This blog was started when a friend of Hunter's took a lettering class from me. We stayed in touch and she got married and moved to Minneapolis. At some point we were chatting and she said, "What is wrong with my husband? I had apples on the grocery list and he brought home red delicious. What kind of people buy red delicious."

I assured her that this was only the tip of the iceberg. I started the blog - just for us to have a place to compare notes. She ended up divorcing him. I don't think she's remarried.

The other posts on this blog are pretty funny.

Furniture Issues - 1

What kind of people leave the cushions like this - repeatedly? I can see how they may get up, leave the room and not realize they have left it that way, but they return to the room several times a day to use the computer and never seem to be bothered by it enough to put it back in place.

I'm That Kind of Person (List of 1)

As promised, I (we) will include true stories where we take full responsibility for doing things that someone else should have posted on this blog. At the moment, I am not recalling anything, but I am sure I will be reminded of something.

Oh.

I just remembered.

What kind of person/parent does not check the weather on really snowy days and drops their kids off at school and even mentions, "Gee, it looks pretty dark. They need to turn some lights on." In fairness to the repeat offender in this matter, she grew up in St. Paul Minnesota where there was a no-snow-holiday policy. Schools never closed. Start time might have been delayed. But there was no closing and no early outs as I recall. Then one day the buses couldn't even make it through the snow, so there was a snow holiday. This would have been in the 1960's. And it might have been just that one time. The amount of snow that it takes to close Iowa schools is laughable. When I went to college in Des Moines, in 1969, I walked to school and sat -alone- in a classroom for an hour. Then I moved to my next classroom and was sitting there for a while when a custodian walked by asked me if I knew that school had been canceled due to weather. I was astonished. This must have been the second year -1970- when I was in an apartment which was shared, but the roommate was not always sleeping at the apartment. She might have alerted me to the school closing if she had been there.

I'll replace this photo with one from my actual childhood - next time I find one.

Kitchen Issues - Non-food (List of 1)

What kind of people put a square lid on a round bowl? Yes, we know the lid to the bowl is lost. So throw it out and choose a different bowl.

Home Repair - (1 Issue)

What kind of people watch two episodes of This Old House and suddenly think they're a licensed contractor fit to replace sink piping? Only to result in more of a mess than was the original issue.

The person who submitted this topic included the following sentence:
Husbands, that's what kind of people. (please click and continue reading)

As the moderator of this blog, I need to clarify that we will not include designations of gender for a few reasons.
1
The goal of this blog is not about husband bashing. I take full responsibility for some seriously inept decision making and will include stories where I take full responsibility for my actions.
2
There may be some wives out there who have botched an attempt at home improvements.
3
There are couples with two husbands or two wives. They should feel free to provide their stories.
4
There are gender ambiguous situations.

Side note: I heard about a student applying to a college where there were 7 different choices under *gender* which is a valid question to assist in the assigning of roommates. The seventh choice was *none of the above*. I guess the others involved choices where people may have been technically one gender but presenting as another. It is all rather complicated these days. I'm thinking they need to add *undecided.* I have a few days where I feel myself turning into Jean-Claude Van Damme -and even the incredible Hulk.
Species ambiguous?

We are all looking forward to more examples in this category.
Thank you to Ms. Delicious for being the first person to contribute to the forum.

Food Issues - (List of 2)

1
What kind of people buy red delicious apples?

2
What kind of people do not notice that they are buying the food that has been marked down because it expires on the day of purchase? Yes, we know that it is still safe to eat - but if it is an item that is not going to be consumed promptly - it might not be a wise purchase.

Laundry Issues (List of 4)

1
What kind of people have to peel off their t-shirt and turn it inside-out and leave it that way so that the folder has to turn it right-side-out? Don't they realize that the folder will decide at some point that they are not going to waste their time turning the shirts and just fold them inside-out?

2
What kind of people leave their socks wadded up when they take them off and then put them in the washer (trying to be helpful) where they stay in a ball and when they come out of the dryer, the folder has to un-wad the sock and finds that it is still wet?

3
What kind of people keep using bleach to clean things and ruining towels, bath mats,  and clothes?

4
What kind of people think that this is a load of whites?
